Below you will find four introductory-level art classes for students new to the Palatine High School Art and Media department. Classes are organized as the introduction to a certain possible career path but can be taken at any time during high school as an enrichment course.
Students enrolled in Art courses at PHS learn materials and techniques, but most importantly learn how to think creativly, work collaboratively and present their work to their peers.
Painting, Drawing and Printmaking 1 is a class that focuses heavily on traditional art-making materials used in contemporary ways. A fun introduction for the beginner. A solid foundation for all the arts.
3D Design 1 allows students to build with their hands in a fun and supportive environment. Work with clay, wood, and other more unique building materials.
Intro to Digital Media Art introduces the student to a variety of digital art-making experiences including digital illustration, video, photography, 3D modeling, animation, and graphic design. DUAL CREDIT available.
Broadcast Media otherwise known as PTV creates announcements and news packages for homeroom events. Students learn how to create a news package, film and edit video/audio, and work on a creative team.
Art courses are highly recommended for a student as one of their elective courses.
Colleges and Universities look on transcripts for classes that promote creativity and indivduality.
